Cattle with a Purpose Beyond Performance
Kari and I where married in 2004, the same year that we founded Sprenger Cattle Company. A couple of years later in November of 2006 God blessed us with a little girl that we named Peyton. A couple of years later and 1 day God granted us another blessing with the birth of our second daughter Taylor.
I am the 4th generation of Sprengers to manage our ranch here in the southwestern Nebraska panhandle and the 1st generation to market purebred Angus cattle. This venture has always been a dream of mine since I was a little boy. I have always loved cattle especially Angus cattle.
In the winter of 2004 we began our venture in to purebreed Angus cattle with the purchase of 17 cows from Mike Sitz. The majority of these cows are linebred DHD Traveler 6807 cows. I have been amazed with staying power that these cows have. Mike has done a tremendous job of breeding the type of cattle the industry needs and I am grateful for the cows that I was able to buy from him.
In 2005 we decided to expand our herd and purchased 35 cows out of the Shoshone Angus herd in Wyoming. Larry Leonhardt, owner of Shoshone Angus, is considered among many as one of the greatest cattle breeders. Shoshone cattle are known for being prepotent as Larry has been linebreeding cattle for well over 40 years. The cows that we were able to buy from Larry have left and continue to leave a positve imprint in our herd.
We are very proud of the herd that we have built and look forward to showing it to all who are interested. We feel that we are one of very few breeders who truly put their cows to the test. It is our belief that the harder we push our cows the more rewards our customers will reap.
